When we lose someone close to us (parent, spouse, child, pet, etc.) the connections we build over the relationship are forced to change. Many have difficulty adjusting to that change even with prior warning and preparation. Therapy can involve processing the relationship, the emotions associated with the loss, and self-care during the adjustment. All Mind Health therapists also help establish “continuing bonds” – the ways we maintain the connection (rituals, celebrations, even dreams) with those lost in a way that works best for you.
